Books & Gadgets: Cork Dork by Bianca Bosker

YouTube is where you can go to learn pretty much anything. It’s also a place where you can see sommeliers competing over their blind tasting skills.

For Bianca Bosker, it was a rabbit hole that fascinated her so much she quit her job in order to become a certified sommelier. She did in less than a year. Let that sink in.

It’s all documented with great insight, thought, and rabid behavior in her new book Cork Dork. Bianca’s journey takes us from her first job in the wine industry as a cellar rate to Europe for a conference on smell and to some of the premier dining destinations in the New York to learn what goes into being a top sommelier. Bianca chronicles the art of blind tasting with various Master Sommelier candidates as well as wine peeps who view blind tasting as more than a party trick.

Bianca takes us beyond the SOMM documentary and competitions to a world for wine lovers of all types. Cork Dork will be released March 28, 2017.
